Note: if your current primary email address is an AU staff address, your primary address will not be changed to your new student address. If, however, you would like to see your AU and student union messages in another account inbox, you can forward your student email account to your personal email account. Your Athabasca University email address will be available throughout your studies at Athabasca University and therefore is your best means to make sure you are receiving important notifications from the University. We encourage you to maintain this email address as your primary email address of record at Athabasca University and regularly check this account for messages. From then on, Athabasca University system-generated messages will be sent to this email account. Your Athabasca University student union messages will also be delivered to this email address. Once you activate your student Office 365 account, your primary Athabasca University email account will be set overnight to your new student email. In the Offline Settings section, move the slider to select how long you want to keep mail on your computer for offline access. In the Account Settings dialog box, with the E-mail tab selected, click Change. Click Account Settings > Account Settings. You can set the duration of this setting to 1, 3, 6, 12, or 24 months, or All. Email, calendar, and other items are kept in an Outlook data file on your computer so you can work offline. You can use Outlook on your laptop or desktop computer when you’re not connected to the Internet. You may need to restart Outlook for the changes to take effect. When you are notified that your account was successfully configured, click Finish. Outlook will complete the setup for your account, which might take several minutes. Enter your name, your email address using your and your SUNet ID password. When asked if you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account, select Yes and then click Next. Faculty, staff, and graduate students with a full-service SUNet ID and undergraduate students with an Office 365 account can download Microsoft Office for Windows via webmail for free. Outlook is included with Microsoft Office 365. Two-step authentication may also be required. Office 365 is designed to work with any version of Microsoft Office in mainstream support. However, if you use IMAP you can only access your email from Outlook, not your calendar, contacts, and tasks. 
You can also set up Outlook to access your email by using IMAP. An Exchange connection provides access your email, calendar, contacts, and tasks in Outlook.
